The next meeting in the seminar series of the Center for Research and Practice in Cultural Continuity “Decolonizing approaches to studying history and linguistic-cultural heritage. Methods, tools, results and challenges” :
The Legacy of Apartheid and Its Continued Impact on South African Society
will take place on
February 21, 2024

at 16:45 CET.

This paper examines how apartheid, despite its official end in 1994, continues to shape South Africa’s social, economic, and political landscape. It explores the persisting racial inequalities, structural discrimination, and cultural dominance in post-apartheid South Africa. By analyzing the intersections of race, class, and power, this essay reveals how white supremacy operates within society, perpetuating systemic injustices and impeding true reconciliation and progress. It emphasizes the need for collective self-reflection, accountability, and anti-racist action to challenge and dismantle apartheid’s legacies, paving the way for a fairer and more just future for all South Africans.
