Conference “On the side of agency – how to affirm linguistic diversity in Poland” June 5-6, 2025
We would like to warmly invite you to the conference
“On the side of agency – how to affirm linguistic diversity in Poland”.
The conference will take place on the 5th and 6th of June at the Faculty of “Artes Liberales”,
it is organized by Dr. Joanna Dolińska (UW), Prof. Justyna Olko (UW) and Prof. Tomasz Wicherkiewicz (UAM).
The first day of the conference will be devoted to the past and present of Podlachian language, while the second day will be inaugurated by a plenary lecture by Prof. Katarzyna Kłosińska (UW). The second day of the conference will be also focused on the norm and standard in Kashubian, Silesian, Lemko-Rusyn, Mazurian, Podlachian and Mexican languages.
An excellent complement to the event will be a performance in the Podlachian language about an ugly duckling ☺️
‘Brydkie kačenia’
on 5 June 17:45-18:45.
The performance is a story about the search for acceptance and warmth, about childhood and growing up when one is different, transferred to the reality of Podlachian region. Told from the perspective of a mother, it allows us to read the well-known fairy tale anew.
