Dear readers, we present to you “Приповідкы на кажду пору рока” [Stories for all seasons]. The publication was created primarily for children, teenagers, parents and for teachers of the Lemko language. As language caretakers and determinants of national identity, both parents and teachers are responsible for teaching children and young people their native language with literary texts.
All the texts included in the book were previously published in other Lemko editions – in “Holos Vatry”, “Besida” and “Lemkivska Lastivochka”. Petro Murianka wrote them, translated them from other languages or edited them, and later published them in journals for which he served as the editor. We gathered them into one book and added pictures, thus providing interesting material for all readers. We tried to choose texts that would showcase the richness of the Rusyn language, tradition and culture. The stories we have selected are diverse – they influence childrens’ imagination, develop their sensitivity and encourage reflection, making them laugh, learn and move. The texts will also be a good foundation for the implementation of various thematic and grammatical lessons.
The publication of “Приповідкы на кажду пору рока” is part of our effort to protect our native tongue. We provide the tools needed to teach the Lemko language and other important elements of our Lemko culture.
The publication is the result of cooperation between the “Ruska Bursa” Association in Gorlice and the Center for Research and Practice in Cultural Continuity, at the University of Warsaw’s Faculty of “Artes Liberales”. And it was created with the support of the “Artes Liberales Institute” Foundation and Faculty of “Artes Liberales” of the University of Warsaw.
Wszystkie umieszczone w książce teksty były publikowane wcześniej w innych łemkowskich wydaniach – w „Głosie Watry”, „Besidzie” i „Łemkowskiej Łastiwoczce”. To efekt wieloletniej pracy Petra Murianki, który albo je napisał, albo przetłumaczył z innych języków, albo zredagował, a później opublikował w redagowanych przez siebie czasopismach. My zebraliśmy je w jedną książkę i ozdobiliśmy ilustracjami, żeby stanowiły interesujący materiał dla wszystkich czytelników. Staraliśmy się tak dobrać teksty, żeby prezentowały bogactwo języka rusińskiego, tradycji i kultury. Wybrane przez nas opowiadania są różnorodne – mają wpływać na wyobraźnię dzieci, rozwijać ich wrażliwość, skłaniać do refleksji, rozśmieszać, uczyć i wzruszać. Teksty będą również dobrą bazą do realizacji różnych tematycznych i gramatycznych lekcji.
Wydanie tej publikacji to część naszych starań, żeby chronić nasz język. Dajemy narzędzie potrzebne do tego, żeby go uczyć, przekazywać najmłodszym, a razem z nim uczyć też innych ważnych elementów naszej łemkowskiej kultury.
Publikacja jest efektem współpracy Stowarzyszenia „Ruska Bursa” w Gorlicach i Centrum Zaangażowanych Badań nad Ciągłością Kulturową, Wydział „Artes Liberales” UW i powstała przy wsparciu Fundacji „Instytut Artes Liberales” i Wydziału „Artes Liberales” Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego.
