The Nahuatl-Tének dictionary with pictures is the result of collaborative work between our team members at the Center for Research and Practice in Cultural Continuity and native speakers of both of these Indigenous languages:

Elwira Dexter-Sobkowiak (editor),

Joanna Maryniak (illustrations and design of the volume),

Pedro Ríos Cervantes (Nahuatl consultant),

Luis Flores Martínez (Tének consultant).

The work represents the varieties of Nahuatl and Tének spoken in the Huasteca Potosina in the state of San Luis Potosí in Mexico, and was prepared to support revitalization efforts for the two Indigenous languages of the region. The dictionary includes almost 400 referents translated into two languages organized into culturally appropriate semantic fields.  In addition, the volume contains an introductory part about the history and culture of the Huasteca Potosina. The dictionary will serve both children and adults as a reference tool to familiarize themselves with the basic vocabulary of these two Indigenous languages.

Słownik obrazkowy w językach nahuatl i tének jest owocem współpracy między członkiniami zespołu Centrum Zaangażowanych Badań nad Ciągłością Kulturową oraz rdzennymi użytkownikami obu języków:

Słownik przedstawia warianty języków nahuatl i tének używane w regionie Huasteca Potosina w stanie San Luis  Potosí w Meksyku i został przygotowany w celu wsparcia działań rewitalizujących oba języki rdzenne. Słownik gromadzi prawie 400 par haseł w dwóch językach zorganizowanych w kulturowo relewantne pola semantyczne. Oprócz tego, słownik zawiera część wstępną, w której podano informacje na temat historii i kultury regionu Huasteca Potosina. Książka będzie służyła tak dzieciom, jak i dorosłym, którzy będą chcieli się zaznajomić z podstawowym słownictwem w nahuatl i tének.
