FOSTERLANG in Donostia for its workshop on Linguistic Capital, May 27-28, 2026

FOSTERLANG will hold a two-day workshop in 

Donostia on 27–28th May 2026:

Linguistic Capital and Sustainability of European Minoritised language Communities

Hosted by Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea at the Faculty of Computer Science in Donostia, the workshop will bring together researchers, language professionals, activists and community members working on language revitalisation, linguistic diversity and minoritised language technologies.

The programme will explore how linguistic capital can contribute to community well-being, intergenerational transmission and the long-term sustainability of minoritised languages across Europe and beyond.

Throughout the two days, participants will take part in lectures, roundtables, working sessions and practical activities focused on three main themes:

  • Linguistic capital and community well-being
  • Language transmission and socialisation
  • Language technologies and digital resources for minoritised languages

The event includes contributions from experts working on Basque, Welsh, Scottish Gaelic, Kashubian, Amazigh, Slovenian, Lemko and other minoritised language communities.
