The next meeting in the seminar series of the Center for Research and Practice in Cultural Continuity “Decolonizing approaches to studying history and linguistic-cultural heritage. Methods, tools, results and challenges”:

“Decolonial narratives in Kazakhstan: identity, memory, civil society”

will take place on

The widening debates on decoloniality, as well as post-colonial studies in Kazakhstan necessitates developing a critical stance on the topic. In this sense repeated mapping on collectives, artists, civic activists whose work can be analyzed via decolonial prism is very important. In this project conducted in Spring 2023 Kamila Smagulova has provided an overview of current actors of decolonial debates and how it shapes current narratives on memory, activism and identity on a grassroots level.he condition of museums and their rela -tions with Indigenous communities.
